The New York Jets are one of the world’s most valuable sports enterprises.

The Jets, owned by the Johnson family, are worth $3.55 billion, good for No. 14 on Forbes’ list of most valuable sports empires in 2021. In terms of New York sports franchises, only Madison Square Garden Sports (New York Knicks and Rangers) and Yankee Global Enterprises (New York Yankees, Legends, YES Network, New York City FC and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders) are worth more than the Johnson family.

The top five sports empires are Liberty Media, Kroenke Sports and Entertainment, Jerry Jones, Fenway Sports Group and Yankee Global Enterprises.

Since the Johnsons have taken over as the owners, the Jets have consistently been one of the most valuable sports franchises. The Johnson’s have invested a ton of money in the Jets, including MetLife Stadium, which they share with the New York Giants.

The Johnsons also benefit from being in a major market city in New York. There is a ton of interest in the Jets with such a huge fan base that has remained loyal despite all the losing.

Like all NFL teams, the Jets will probably take a financial hit due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Still, at the beginning of 2021, the Jets are still sitting atop the list as one of the world’s most valuable sports franchises.
