Florida Wins USA Today Network SEC Women’s All-Sports Title
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida won the 2021-22 USA Today Network Southeastern Conference Women’s All-Sports title. It was the 24th women’s SEC All-Sports title for the Gators program, which celebrates its 50th season in this academic year. Tennessee claimed its first SEC Overall All-Sports title. The Vols also claimed their first SEC Men’s All-Sports title since 2007-08. UT won two SEC titles in 2021-22 – baseball and women’s swimming. Tabulation for the USA Today Network SEC All-Sports standings finished after the close of regular-season baseball play, the final sport to determine a league champion in the 2021-22 season. ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ screenshot wins Virtual Photographer Of The Year
During London Games Festival, a Red Dead Redemption 2 screenshot won a competition promoting the art of virtual photography. The winning entry was submitted by Joe Meizies and featured a silhouetted figure on horseback. All entries were displayed around Trafalgar Square as part of the London Games Festival, which ends on April 10. “The challenge celebrates the new artistic medium of virtual photography where creators can bring video game design and virtual worlds to life. Carothers team wins warm 3X9 Series event with 15.66 pounds | Outdoor Sports
On Tuesday evening, 69 two-angler teams turned out on the shores of Stillhouse Hollow Lake under warm, breezy conditions to compete in the weekly 3X9 Series bass fishing tournament which runs from March through September. The goal each week is to catch the heaviest three-fish limit of bass in the event’s three-hour time limit which begins at 6 p.m. As the event concluded, a three-fish limit weighing 15.66 pounds took first place. This catch was made by the team of Canyon and Skyler Carothers. The anglers’ limit was anchored by the tourney’s second-largest fish. US Open 2021 women’s final: Emma Raducanu wins first career Grand Slam in magical run to final as qualifier
In the first US Open final between two unseeded players, 18-year-old Emma Raducanu took home her first Grand Slam championship when she defeated 19-year-old Leylah Fernandez in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Raducanu became the first qualifier to win a Grand Slam, also doing so in just the second Grand Slam tournament of her career. With the victory, Raducanu became the first British woman to win a Grand Slam title since Virginia Wade won Wimbledon in 1977. Wade was also the last British woman to win the US Open, back in 1968.
