Canadian teen Morales Williams unfazed by world-record nullification, has high hopes for Olympics
Canadian sprinter Christopher Morales Williams set a world record in the indoor men’s 400 metres — or so he thought. After recording an all-time mark of 44.49 seconds at the NCAA SEC championships on Saturday, World Athletics was unable to ratify the 19-year-old’s time due to a starting block issue. PRESQUE ISLE — Local teens can spend a week of their summer immersed in nature and science at the 4-H Great Lakes and Natural Resources Camp at Camp Chickagami in Presque Isle. At the July 31 to Aug. 6 camp, 13- to 15-year-olds, or those entering eighth through tenth grade in the fall, will receive hands-on lessons from natural resources experts in fields such as Great Lakes coastal and fisheries management, wildlife, forestry, geology, and environmental education. Water Sports Teen, Hellabalou and Abuckabett Hanover each won an elimination of the Delvin Miller Adios Pace for the Orchids on Saturday at The Meadows and will advance to the $375,000 final next weekend. They’ll be joined by six other qualifiers – Natameri, Southwind Gendry, Mysweetboymax, Chase H Hanover, Rockyroad Hanover, Lou’s Pearlman – who finished in the top three in their eliminations.
