Five new Steam games you probably missed (May 30, 2022)
On an average day about a dozen new games are released on Steam. And while we think that’s a good thing, it can be understandably hard to keep up with. Potentially exciting gems are sure to be lost in the deluge of new things to play unless you sort through every single game that is released on Steam. So that’s exactly what we’ve done. If nothing catches your fancy this week, we’ve gathered the best PC games (opens in new tab) you can play right now and a running list of the 2022 games (opens in new tab) that are launching this year. The Backrooms 1998 Steam page (opens in new tab) Release: May 26Developer: Steelkrill…

Valve’s Steam Deck Can Now Run A Lot More Games Than At Launch
Image: Valve When Valve’s Steam Deck launched back in February, it could only certifiably run a (relative) handful of the platform’s 1000s of titles. The exact number was 399, but now, just a few weeks later, that figure has roughly tripled. On February 25, the day of the Steam Deck’s launch, there were the 399 I just mentioned, plus roughly 300 more that were listed as “playable” but still might have some issues. Note that this list included games that ran fine, but had been designed with a big monitor and mouse in mind, and so maybe weren’t the best experience on a handheld device. Anyone buying the Steam Deck…

Free Bethesda Games On Steam Include Classic Elder Scrolls
Box art for Elder Scrolls ArenaImage: Bethesda Back in February, Bethesda confirmed that it was shutting down its proprietary PC game launcher and would move affected games back to Steam. Now, as we get closer to the May 11 shutdown, Bethesda has started adding some of its classic games to Steam. Some are arriving on Valve’s digital storefront for the first time, and three for the low, low cost of nothing at all. Today, Bethesda added five classic titles to Steam, mainly from the Elder Scrolls franchise, including two of its lesser-known and more obscure spin-offs, Redguard and Battlespire. Here’s the full list. The Elder Scrolls Arena The Elder Scrolls…

Battlefield 2042 Has Almost 30k Negative Reviews On Steam
Image: EA / Kotaku Yikes. Battlefield 2042, officially released just two days ago, is now one of the worst-reviewed games on Steam with over 29k negative reviews. Currently, it sits as the eighth lowest-rated game on Steam. As spotted by Forbes via the Steam250 website, the game has now entered the top 10 worst reviewed games on Steam list, currently at number eight. And as more players review the game negatively, it will likely move up this list. It’s still not as hated as the disaster-pretending-to-be-a-video game known as eFootball 2022, but that’s a low bar to clear. Battlefield 2042 has had a rough launch, with players complaining about broken vehicles,…
