Next Gen TV Provider Evoca Bets On Local, Regional Sports
Getty Images Over-the-air video startup Evoca is further expanding its sports investments, producing the first two games of the Colorado State University football team’s games this season, the company announced. The Boise-based company uses ATSC 3.0, the digital over-the-air standard being adopted by broadcasters around the country that enables a range of new business models and offerings. Evoca combines those broadcast streams with an interactive online connection to provide subscribers a package of local channels, news, sports, and more for $25 a month. James City County will join an authority that will oversee an indoor sports complex in the Historic Triangle. (WYDaily file) JAMES CITY COUNTY — The plan for the Historic Triangle to become a sports tourism destination continues to move forward. The James City County (JCC) Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to join the Historic Triangle Recreational Facilities Authority during the Tuesday, Nov. 9 meeting. Formed by the City of Williamsburg, the task force will see members from each of the three localities – Williamsburg, JCC and York County – working together to discuss the issues related to the sports center, such as costs, operations and scheduling. BETHLEHEM, Pa. – During its Monday night meeting, the Bethlehem Area School District Board of Directors approved COVID-19 protocols for indoor sports for the rest of the school year. The approved measure “strongly encourages” all BASD student-athletes and coaches to receive the COVID-19 vaccine prior to the winter sports season, scheduled to start Nov. 19. Vaccinated student-athletes are not required to wear masks during athletic participation. In addition, vaccinated student-athletes will not be required to participate in COVID-19 testing if they provide “sufficient proof” that they are fully vaccinated against the virus. A proposed regional indoor sports complex would potentially be built on the property of the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center to drive sports tourism. (WYDaily file) HISTORIC TRIANGLE — The James City County (JCC) and York County boards of supervisors heard from the City of Williamsburg about a proposed authority that would bring a regional indoor sports complex to the area.
