PANAMA CITY BEACH — A “transformational” project to expand a popular sports complex is gaining serious momentum.
According to Dan Rowe, president and CEO of Visit Panama City Beach, local officials approved last week a plan for Lose Design, an engineering firm with offices in Tennessee, Georgia and Colorado, to design two new buildings slated for construction at the Panama City Beach Sports Complex.

PANAMA CITY — National sporting goods chain Academy Sports + Outdoors is on track to open its first Panama City store next week, and store managers plan a weekend filled with festivities.
Academy Sports is hosting a three-day grand opening celebration July 29-31 full of limited-time deals at the new store, located at 820 W. 23rd St., the former site of Hobby Lobby.

Approved by the Panama City Beach Tourist Development Council on Friday, the 112,000-square-foot facility will be built on Chip Seal Parkway across from the Publix Sports Park on the Beach’s east end.
