    Haslam Sports Group announces ‘Faceoff on the Lake’ on February 18

    Haslam Sports Group (HSG), the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State University announced today that “Faceoff on the Lake” will be played at FirstEnergy Stadium on Feb. 18, when the Buckeyes host the Michigan Wolverines in the first-ever hockey game at the venue. Cleveland Browns and Columbus Crew season ticket members, along with Browns Waitlist members and select groups, will have early access to “Faceoff on the Lake” tickets beginning on Monday, Aug. 29 at 10 a.m. Tickets will officially go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7.     Coventry Lake closed due to algae bloom

    A health advisory has been issued for the lake due to a blue-green algae bloom. Neighbors say they’re saddened summer on the lake is paused for at least 3 weeks. COVENTRY, Conn — Summer on Coventry Lake is paused until potentially mid-August after a bloom of blue-green algae was detected. The Eastern Highlands Health District issued an advisory Friday for people to avoid coming in contact with the water. That means no swimming or water sports at the popular summer destination. “It’s an emptiness. You want to feel able to go there anytime you want to.      Jimmy Allen had a year to remember the play.  The Fenton native and 2010 graduate, was a member of the Salina Liberty Champions Indoor Football (CIF) league, and his squad was in the championship game against the Omaha Beef at Salina’s Tony’s Pizza Event Center.  Allen had a chance to kick the game-winning 23-yard field goal, but the kick was blocked. Salina lost the title game, 40-39.  But, a year later, Allen had his revenge. Playing the same team in the same championship contest at the same venue, Allen and his Liberty teammates smelled sweet success when they became CIF champions against the Omaha Beef 38-34.       In the wee hours on May 28, Rick Munguia, owner of Awesome Bowfishing based in Briggs, put one of his clients onto the fish of a lifetime. Munguia was joined right around sunset on May 27 by Hunter Burnett, age 24, and his father, Jay Burnett, both visiting Central Texas from Pampa, Texas. Munguia had chosen to bowfish on the waters of Lake Georgetown. The small Corps of Engineers reservoir is approximately 1,297 acres in size, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
