The biggest mistakes parents make when their kids play team sports
NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! Many kids are right now lacing up for their fall youth sports teams as back to school time gets underway, whether it’s a school team or a youth or recreation league team. Parents and coaches should establish positive communication — and one expert says that needs to happen “well before” that first sneaker hits the field. “The first time a parent has a meaningful interaction with the coach should not be because a problem has come up,” Jason Sacks, president of Positive Coaching Alliance in San Francisco, California, told Fox News Digital in an interview. Utah judge allows transgender kids to play girls sports
NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! Transgender girls in Utah will be given the opportunity to participate in girls’ sports as the school year begins, after a judge on Friday reversed a ban pending legal challenges from parents. Instead of an outright ban, transgender girls will now be sent before a commission that will determine on a case-by-case basis if their participation compromises fairness. Utah’s Republican lawmakers created the commission in a law passed earlier this year as a fallback plan to be implemented in case of an injunction against the law. Under the law, the panel will be allowed to ask for and assess the child’s height…

‘Save Women’s Sports’ bill targets transgender kids
When Jennifer Harris Dault’s daughter came out to her kindergarten class as a transgender girl via Zoom, no one really batted an eye. Her teachers supported her, and so did her friends. Rori Picker Neiss’ son had a similar experience when he came out as a boy. The two kids, ages 7 and 11, have faced an outpouring of support from their communities and schools. But much of the Missouri legislature doesn’t feel the same way. For three years in a row, Missouri lawmakers have attempted to pass what’s now titled the “Save Women’s Sports Act,” which would prohibit trans girls from playing on girls sports teams. Arizona Adaptive Water Sports Kids Day held for children with disabilities
Nine-year-old Bella Collett said she had “no words” after getting back to the Barrett Lake Marina late Saturday morning after her first-ever water skiing excursion. “Usually, I never get to do stuff like this, so I’m excited,” she said to The Arizona Republic. Collett uses a wheelchair because of her spina bifida, a birth defect in which the spinal cord doesn’t develop properly. She was one of dozens who participated in Arizona Adaptive Water Sports Kids Day on Saturday, an event that provides adaptive equipment and makes water sports accessible for disabled youth. “This is the opportunity she has to do something and to gain confidence and to see and meet other…
