Station Commons seeks to build a youth sports complex in Gallatin

  • Plan to build youth sports complex carries hope of making Gallatin a destination for games and tournaments.

An indoor sports complex is the centerpiece of a development plan submitted in Gallatin that also proposes commercial lots and outparcels and two hotels.

Station Commons is the working name of the proposal on about 32 acres at 190 Big Station Camp Blvd. at the corner of Highway 386.

Layout of a building plan named Station Commons in Gallatin.

The proposed indoor sports and recreation building would be 100,450 square feet, according to plans submitted. The hotels would be nearly 75,000 and 42,000 square feet respectively. A convenience store with gas pumps, restaurants and storage are also part of the plan.

Hopes are that the sports complex can draw youth sports teams from out of town and athletic events to Gallatin.

“The sports complex element of Station Commons is unique to Gallatin and Sumner County,” said Gallatin Economic Development Agency Executive Director James Fenton. “We expect it to draw athletes and families from around Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky who may stay for a day, a night or a weekend. We see it becoming a destination spot that exposes our city to new visitors and new opportunities.”
