It’s Sonic the Hedgehog’s 30th anniversary this year and SEGA has been very quiet with what it has planned so far – if anything. However, a new listing suggests a collection of Sonic games could be making its way to consoles.
French retailer Sogamely has a Sonic Collection listed for PlayStation 4. There’s no word on what it contains or whether there will be an Xbox release, but we think its safe to assume there will be. As noted by VGC, claims made by an insider earlier this year suggest this collection could contain Retro Engine remakes of Sonic 1 & 2, and other games “that have never seen a re-release before.”
Projects we know are in the works are a sequel to 2020’s Sonic the Hedgehog movie (which recently had its plot leaked), and a LEGO set based on the iconic character. The same French retailer also listed a remaster of Sonic Colors, which originally only released on Nintendo systems back in 2010, but is expected to get an Xbox release.
SEGA has previously called 2021 a “year of celebration” for Sonic, promising new games, announcements, events, and more. We’re yet to truly see those claims come to light, but with the platforming hero’s anniversary approaching next month, it looks like a few things could be on the horizon.
