In order to provide high level training to players in all disciplines of water sports, the services of foreign coaches should be taken and sports equipment should be purchased as per requirement. 

 

The Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare, Yashodhara Raje Scindia on Wednesday presided over in a review meeting held for preparations of the upcoming national and international water sports competitions. While addressing the sports officials and coaches, the minister instructed “In order to provide high level training to players in all disciplines of water sports, the services of foreign coaches should be taken and sports equipment should be purchased as per requirement.”

 

Director, Sports and Youth Welfare Pawan Jain, Joint Director B S Yadav and other officials, Water Sports Academy Sailing Coach G L Yadav, Kayaking-Canoeing Coach Piyush Baroi, Devendra Gupta and Sailing Assistant Coach Anil Sharma were present in the meeting. Sports Minister inquired about the national and international competitions from sports coaches and said that no efforts will be spared in providing high level training and facilities to players. She made a systematic review and gave necessary guidelines for preparation of regional qualification for Olympics and all water sports national and international competitions in 2021.

 

Sports Director Pawan Jain informed the Sports Minister about the progress of the Department. Rowing Coach Captain Dalbir Singh informed “India Camp of Rowing Players is being held by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) from December 21 to 31 March 2021 for preparation of Olympic qualification, Asian Championship and Asian Games. Seven players of Water Sports Rowing Academy Sona Keer, Vindhya Sankat, Khushpreet Kaur, Rukmani Dangi, Savita Dangi, Monica Bhadoria and Jyoti Kushwaha are undergoing training.
