BOISE, Idaho – The national television packages for the Mountain West, Pac-12 and Conference USA were announced Thursday, cementing dates for the Boise State football team’s 2022 schedule.
Each of the Broncos’ 12 regular-season games have been picked up by national television. The 10 MW-controlled games will air on either CBS, the FOX family of networks (FOX, FS1 or FS2) or CBS Sports Network, the Broncos’ season opener at Oregon State will air on ESPN and the nonconference road game at UTEP will air on CBS Sports Network.
The nonconference tilt against the Beavers will remain on Saturday, Sept. 3, and kick at 8:30 p.m. MT. This is the second-straight year the Broncos’ season opener will air on ESPN.
The Broncos’ matchup at UTEP, previously announced as having moved to Friday, Sept. 23, will kick at 7 p.m.
Included in the MW schedule announcement were two additional games that will shift to Friday – the Broncos’ road game at New Mexico (Sept. 9) and the home game against San Diego State (Sept. 30). The meeting in Albuquerque will kick at 7 p.m. on CBS Sports Network, and the home contest with the Aztecs is slated for FS1 at 6 p.m.
In addition to the Broncos’ nonconference road game at UTEP, the regular-season finale at home against Utah State had also been announced as shifting to Friday, giving Boise State four regular-season non-Saturday games for the second-straight season. Boise State last had back-to-back regular seasons with at least four non-Saturday games in 2015 (six) and 2016 (five), and boasts an all-time record of 38-11 in regular-season Friday games (.776).
The Broncos’ home opener against UT Martin will kick at 2 p.m., and air on FS1.
Three remaining home contests – Fresno State (Oct. 8), Colorado State (Oct. 29) and BYU (Nov. 5) – will air on the FOX family of networks, though a kick time will be determined at a later date. The kick determinations are generally made within a 12-day window, though a six-day window is also possible.
Each of Boise State’s four conference road games will air on CBS Sports Network – the Friday game against New Mexico, and Air Force (5 p.m.), Nevada (8:30 p.m.) and Wyoming (5 p.m.).
Boise State enters the 2022 season with a streak of 24-consecutive winning seasons (1998-2021), tied with Texas (1893-1916) for the 13th-longest streak in Football Bowl Subdivision history. The streak is the longest by a school in the Group of Five all-time.
The Broncos have also achieved bowl-eligible status each of the last 24 years, the third-longest active streak in the country and trailing only Ohio State (33) and Georgia (25).
