Commercial air service pushed back | News, Sports, Jobs
The Williamsport Regional Airport on Wednesday. KAREN VIBERT-KENNEDY/Sun-Gazette Commercial air service is not expected to return to the Williamsport Regional Airport until at least late summer, according to airport director Richard Howell. The hope had been to have in place commercial flights by this month, with Southern Airways serving the area. However, Howell confirmed at this week’s Williamsport Municipal Airport Authority meeting that it won’t happen now. “It is kind of disappointing,” he said. Southern had planned on flying nine-passenger planes out of the airport three times a day. WSF reports record number of paddlesports accidents
Over 37 million participants engaged in paddlesports like kayaking, canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding during the pandemic according to the latest data (2020) from the Outdoor Foundation. This pandemic surge brought an estimated 2.5 million new paddlers to American waterways. However, it increased accidents to 331 and fatalities to a record high 202 – accounting for more than 26% of all boating fatalities that same year. Water Sports Foundation (WSF) Executive Director Jim Emmons said boating in general is still one of the safest forms of recreation, but data from 2020, the most recent year for which complete data is available, indicates most paddlesports deaths occurred due to lack of safety…

Mizzou football opener moved to Thursday night kickoff | Mizzou Sports News
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Missouri football team’s season-opening game is on the move: The Tigers will host Louisiana Tech on Thursday, Sept. 1 instead of the original Saturday kickoff scheduled for Sept. 3. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. on ESPNU, the SEC announced Friday. “Opening up 2022 in front of a prime-time national television audience on ESPNU is a tremendous way to kick off the football season,” Mizzou athletics director Desireé Reed-Francois said. “Fans can visit Columbia on Thursday night and join us in creating yet another memorable experience for our student-athletes before enjoying the extended Labor Day weekend. We want to give our Tigers every chance…

Some must-play Nintendo Switch games are $20 off
If you’re a newcomer to the Nintendo Switch, or perhaps you’re buying for someone who needs a boost to their game library, it’s always wise to snag the console’s best games when they go on sale, as they rarely do. Best Buy is listing several games that I consider to be must-play experiences for $20 off — both in physical and digital formats. Other retailers, like Amazon and Walmart, are honoring the price cuts, too. Better yet, there’s a range of games included in this sale, suiting people who want a shooter, a turn-based strategy game, or a good ol’ 3D Mario platformer. Super Mario Odyssey is an inviting and…

RI is hiring a recruiter to increase hunters, trappers. Here’s why
The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management plans to hire somebody who can recruit hunters and trappers, including women and people from minority communities. “We’re hiring! DEM’s Division of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) is looking for an innovative self-starter with a strong human dimensions background to coordinate the state’s efforts to recruit, retain and reactivate (R3) outdoor enthusiasts, specifically hunters, trappers and shooting sportsmen and women,” the DEM says in a Facebook post. The job, which pays $71,487 for a 35-hour work week, is consistent with a wider effort to encourage those outdoor sports. Expert: Would-be coyote trapper making Newport coyote problem worse License fees for those activities and taxes on equipment help pay for…
